At the beginning of year, I landed an application developer position at Soliant Consulting. The majority of my work there has been on the cloud computing platform Force.com. Some pretty slick business app stuff. I recently got certified as a Salesforce.com Professional Developer.

Anyhow, to date, the folks at Soliant are awesome to learn from and work with. The office is in San Mateo which allows Becky and I to carpool just about everyday. I get to work from home every now and then too, so that’s cool.

It’s about time… Let’s hope it sticks this time and spreads across the hemisphere. Becky and I have several dear friends that are each hoping to quickly tie their knot while their legal rights to do so exist. It’s unfair that they should have to rush.. but it’s great they have this opportunity.. it’s not like they haven’t been together at least 3 times as long as Becky and I !!!

I’ve started some new work at Soliant Consulting

Currently, it’s a part time adventure with lots of focus on FileMaker Pro and Flex solutions. I’m meeting some great folks and I’m looking forward to learning tons.

Seeing Stars

“Seeing Stars” – Nick wrote this tune during his stay in Half Moon Bay. He and I then thought it’d be cool to record it and do a stop animation type video with Becky’s and my new SLR camera. Nick also wanted it to serve as sort of a documentary of his visit so we just let that be the flow. We were limited to… the Windows Movie Maker (ugh), an old laptop, and of course, time… so cut us some technical/editting slack.. But as Nick pointed out the “limitations” have it again! Thank you LTDs, couldn’t have done it without you. Oh and you’ll notice a black eye in the video… well you should see the other tennis racket.

This shot brings memories of an amazing photograph composed and taken by Matt Tiernan. I bought it from him and still have it, but its in storage back on east coast for time being. It is of a hand holding a vacuum tube above a bathroom sink/drain. My shot just sort of ‘accidentally’ happened sometime last fall. – I must think that something somewhere in my brain was cluing me into Tiernan’s work and also that of my ex-wife Renee‘s, who takes great close ups of food and figurines.

Although I mustn’t discredit the wet peeled beet… it’s an amazing sight that can really work the camera.

Today’s one for the books… this morning at that cafe I met thee, one and only, Jon Miller. The voice of MLB on ESPN radio also the regular SF Giants commentator. I may have mentioned after moving out here, how I heard his voice on nightly Giants broadcasts and was very psyched , as he’s always been my preferred baseball announcer for the big games (radio or tv). Owner at the cafe knows him and introduced me while he was enjoying his pancakes and eggs… (he’s a clean-up hitter for sure). Turns out he lives close by. I could barely carry a conversation. When I told him I was from NY and a Yankee fan, he gave me a John Sterling impression. I was basically too frazzled to enjoy it and ended our meeting kind of abruptly as my head was combusting.

Pretty strange.. it was one of those “I can’t believe this/that voice is an actual person”. It would have been less awkward to see some superstar player walk in and go up and shake hands. weird.
Some things you just don’t want to mess with.

YES! Time finally hit that perfect TOCK, and on the morning of 11/10, 2007, I proposed the specific to Rebecca. And much to my most capital of psych, she accepted it. We celebrated for the rest of the day, heading into the city to window shop, have a drink and brainstorm about the plan. That evening we enjoyed a very special meal at Kokkari, a most elegant Greek restaurant in San Francisco. The house treated us to top shelf bubbles before dinner and Glykismata (Greek desserts) afterwards. It was then on (by the way of one suicidal-tendency cab driver in the pouring rain) to see the one and only Herbie Hancock with Gonzalo Rubacalba opening the show… phew, quite amazing. After the show we took a semi-romantic-terrifying cable car ride, (more buckets of rain), down all the big hills to the Embarcadero to get to our car and head back to the coast.

So we’re looking forward to celebrating with everyone next summer. Maybe Friday, 7/18/08. Stay tuned and see you around Christmas!
